Dezaree Recognized as Diverse Business Leader by Albuquerque Business First

Big congrats to our President, Dezaree Vega Garcia on her recognition as a diverse business leader. This is the first year of the award where Dezaree was recognized along with nine other New Mexico leaders.

About the Award

For the first time, Albuquerque Business First is shining a spotlight that’s specifically focused on some of the business leaders in New Mexico who represent our state’s incredible diversity and have reached positions of power.

Some of them are familiar names who are sharing new dimensions of their story with us. Some of them are incredible leaders you may be encountering for the first time.

Their voices are an essential part of the conversation in New Mexico and nationally, at a time when our nation’s diversity is both marking new milestones and facing new challenges, including a recent spate of violent acts by those denouncing a particular race or group.

We took nominations from the public for our Diverse Business Leader awards. Our field of consideration was leaders who are ethnic minorities (nationally — as noted above, New Mexico is a minority majority state) or identify as LGBT. Nominees were asked to complete an application with information for our judges and provide letters of reference. A group of judges who are leaders in the community evaluated the applicants on career success, impact, community service and leadership. The top scorers are our honorees.
