Sandwiched between aging parents and boomerang adult children? Maybe it’s time for the”the talk”

They’re called the sandwich generation, but it’s not the kind of sandwich anyone savors. These folks, mostly in their 50s and 60s, are pressed between the responsibilities of caring for aging parents and providing support to adult children—the so-called “boomerang” children.

Except for the wealthiest among this demographic, the situation is not sustainable in the long term, and financial advisers say it’s never too soon to have “the talk” with children and parents about expectations and financial realities.
